The Rumble

The night of the church burning down, my gang and I were going to a rumble against the socs. I had a headache from the church. I said I was going to be fine for the fight. When we got to the vacant lot the socs rolled up in their "tuff" cars. The numbers for the fight were pretty even. We ended up winning the fight because the socs ran off. After the fight Dally and I went to the hospital to tell Johnny about the fight. When we got there the doc said he's getting worse. We told him we won the fight and he told me to "stay gold"and right just then he died. Dally and I were sad and Dally ran off. He went to a gas station and robbed it. Then when he was running from the cops he called Darry to hide him in the vacant lot. When he got here he pulled out a gun and the cops shot him. So now two of my friends died today.


Ponyboy Curtis was a greaser. His good friend was Johnny Cade. He had 2 brothers, Darry and Sodapop. He was a track star and liked to read.

The Afterwards

After the church burnt down, I woke up in an ambulance. I must of got knocked out or something. When we got to the hospital they said I didn't have any major injuries and i was clear to go. I went to go check on Dally. He was burn marks on one of his forearms. He was mad at me for going into the burning church. After Dally was cleared to go we went to check on Johnny. He is in critical condition and lost all feelings below his waist. Dally and I told Johnny that we made the paper. Johnny and I were famous for saving those little kids. After we were done visiting Johnny, I went home. Everybody at the hood was proud of me for saving those little kids. I might not get into as much trouble because of that. Darry gave me some chocolate cake for breakfast. I hope Johnny gets better.

Burning Church

Johnny and I are at the church that dally said to go to. The church has a water pump so we won't dehydrate. Johnny went to go buy some groceries. He came back with a lot of bologna, a deck of cards, peroxide, and a copy of gone with the wind.The next 4 days were the longest 4 days of my life. I read gone with the wind to Johnny. He loved to listen to me read. Then Dally came to the church. We all went to Dairy Queen because we were sick of bologna. We got some food and we told dally that we were going to turn ourselves in. He wasn't very happy. After we finished our food we drove back to the church. When we got there the church was on fire! There were a bunch of school kids screaming. Johnny and I went in the burning church to save them. We found them crying in a corner. We broke a window so we could get the kids out. We picked them up and put them down outside. After we got all of them out we tried getting out ourselves. But then a burning piece of wood fell on Johnny and I got knocked out by Dally.

Johnny the Killer

Johnny and I were running away from our hood. Darry just smacked me in the face so I ran away. We went to the park to cool off. It's a perfect place to cool down because it's quiet. When we got there a bunch of socs rolled up in a "tuff" blue mustang. They usually don't come over here because this our territory. They started calling us names like "white trash". Then they took me over to the fountain that was nearby and they started drowning me. I was so scared I was going to die. All of a sudden I was up and out of the water. All of the socs were gone except for one. He was laying on the ground not moving."I killed him," Johnny said "I killed him." So we decided to go and talk to dally. He gave us a gun and money and told us to take the train and go to a church on a hill. So we were off!
